[New Music] Master P Ft. Rick Ross & T-Pain “HNIC” (Head Ni**a In Charge)

Do you think the titled came as an over step of territory? Yeah, we don’t either. A new track has dropped today, that rings off so intimidating  titled “HNIC” (Head Nigga In Charge)… a cut from the original Hip Hop pacemaker himself Master P. Don’t forget who the original head niggas in charge were in this music game; along with the original ”Uhh” grunt. Master P brings along one his fellow “head niggas in charge” Rick Ross to lace up this bossed up anthem type track. The hook is paraded on by the original auto-tune mastermind T-Pain, making for a sure catchy cut. Check out the new track after the jump!

I’m not sure what caused it, but I’m glad it happened. This past weekend, I found myself on a No Limit kick. Given the Tank’s history as of the past decade, Master P’s brainchild sometimes fails to receive the credit it deserves. But anyone who was around to appreciate the music when it was as in-demend as anything at the moment, they’ll tell you P and crew were a force to be reckoned with.

Believe it or not, there’s a generation of Hip-Hop fans who have no clue No Limit Records was, at one point, the most popular label in rap music. They see Lil Romeo as the 20-something-year-old former USC basketball player who happens to be in movies now. And they see Master P as the guy who just released a mixtape with the same name as the controversial (yet occasionally accurate news entity) TMZ. Let’s not  get started on C-Murder, Fiend, Silk Da Shocker, Mystikal and the post-Death Row Snoop Dogg.

In 1997, P released the classic Ghetto D fueled by the hit single “Make ‘Em Say Uhh.” No, take that back. “Hit” is an understatement. That song all but defined my seventh grade school year. That said, one of the records which was never made a single for obvious reasons was the ode to Mary Jane, “Pass Me Da Green.” The crazy thing is, had this song been released nowadays, it would have a straight to YouTube video, Twitter hashtag and maybe could have found itself on MTV Jams in the wee hours of the morning. Not to mention a remix with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Freddie Gibbs, Curren$y and any other rapper who’ve made marijuana their ride or die staple. “Pass Me…” remains a personal favorite as I’ve matriculated through high school, college, grad school and life after that for reasons I’ll let you form with your own imagination.

Say what you will about Master P, but his place is in Hip-Hop is forever solidifed. Anytime you can take a start up label and make hundreds of millions of dollars from it, people will listen anytime you talk.

Well, they definitely will now. Recently, P spoke his mind on Hip-Hop’s incarcerated enigma, Lil Wayne, and how his career has progressed over the years. It’s a rather interesting take and Percy even offers up what he would say to the young man given the chance.

He also gives his input on Birdman and Weezy’s apparent addiction to getting tattoos. All in all, it’s worth the five minutes and 27 seconds of your life on this Sunday afternoon.
