Dynamic duo Missy Elliott and Timbaland beat your alarm clock this morning on Power 105.1‘s The Breakfast Club hours after the release of their “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” tracks last night. Timbo and Missy sat down with radio all stars, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, and DJ Envy to discuss the rapstress’ comeback album Block Party, the posthumous Aaliyah album, and more. Missy‘s first album since 2006 is set to drop December 18 via Goldmind/Atlantic.

Missy Elliott has always been known as a playmaker, and this time around Missy reveals a basketball-themed artwork for her latest single “Triple Threat” featuring Timbaland. Powerful duo with a history, Missy Elliott and Timbaland join forces again on the rapstress’ new single, “9th Inning” for which we now have a teaser. Back in Feburary, rumors stirred that Missy Elliot and Timbaland would be dropping an album in June. Since that didn’t happen Timbaland announced that Missy will be releaseing two new tracks titled “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat“, this upcoming Labor Day Weekend. No details were stated about a Missy album but we can expect a futuristic sound from these two for the two singles I’m anxious for these singles to release.

On the heels of news that Drake has plans to resurect the late R&B legend known as Aaliyah by releasing a posthumous album, a statement has finally come fourth from Missy Elliott‘s manager, speaking on behalf of both her and Timbaland. Rumors surfaced that both artists were on board for a new album from the singer, with statements that her family does not approved.

Now here’s a very interesting, yet not too surprising collabo. I love these three ladies each in their own way, and I think Missy and Azealia chose a great track to hop on. However, I’m not too sure how I feel about the result. It’s definitely an earful, especially the bars from Harlem’s own Miss Banks. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the presence of strong women, and these three are a clearly a powerhouse combination in the studio. Also, I can’t help but love this song.

Timbaland hit the stage on Saturday night for the VIBE x AllHipHop showcase at SXSW. During his set at the Breeding Ground, Timbaland surprises the crowd with a snippet of one of Missy’s brand new tracks possibly debuting on her upcoming album, tentatively titled Block Party. No word on the name or when to expect it, but from what I could make out listening to the video, Missy still got it. Both artist are scheduled to release their album simultaneously, stay tuned as we get more information on both projects.
