Remember when 50 Cent was arguably the most popular rapper on the planet? Well, he’s still financially comfortable regardless if the appeal for his music is a far cry than what it was nearly a decade ago. Remember when 50 had the hottest hooks in the game? I do. Remember when G-Unit was on such a run that everything they dropped at least went platinum? I do. Remember when 50 signed Mobb Deep to G-Unit and it was supposed to revitalize the careers of one of rap’s most storied duos? Well, there were high moments for the partnership, but for the most part, Mobb Deep never became the superstars some envisioned with a 50 co-sign.

One of those highest moments – for me, at least – was the trio’s collaboration on 2006′s Blood Money. “Pearly Gates” was their interesting take on the afterlife; none of them were exactly sure they were shoo-ins for heavenly access. With one of those special, yet largely underrated hooks from Curtis, the song’s content was raw and it played a beautiful contrast to the easy-going instrumental.

Havoc Denies Tweeting Rant On Prodigy, Says There Will Be No Mobb Deep Split

After allegedly going on a rant last night towards partner Prodigy and a few people actually confirming that indeed it was Havoc tweeting this information, Havoc releases a statement saying that it was not him tweeting such things and that Mobb Deep is not splitting anytime soon. Full statement can be viewed below.

“Just getting back into NY after my Easter weekend with family and friends in Jersey. I left my phone at a gas station yesterday evening while on my way to Jersey after a glorious Knick’s game. To all Mobb Deep fans: it’s business as usual! It’s Mobb Deep all day!!! My twitter account @THEREALHAVOC will be down until further notice. The only other real account is @PRODIGYMOBBDEEP. Ignore the rest. One!”

Is Mobb Deep Officially Done? Havoc Accuses Prodigy Of Being Gay And Fake Via Twitter

Well this is pretty interesting to say the least. Last night, Havoc who is half of the legendary group Mobb Deep took to his Twitter account to expose his former partner Prodigy. Usually when things like this happen on Twitter, there is some sort of hacking involved but not in this case. Havoc confirms that this indeed was him tweeting these things about Prodigy. Among the things being said, Havoc accuses Prodigy of being gay and fake. You can view Havoc’s full comments after the jump. Is Mobb Deep officially over or is this some sort of publicity stunt?

3. Rihanna – Talk That Talk – 198,000 - I had a conversation with someone the other about Rihanna’s sales and how they were disappointing. Well, to be honest, they’re not. She’s one of those artists who can sell consistently. And truthfully, she’s probably got seven or eight singles on that album which will push her to platinum.

4. Drake – Take Care – 173,000 - Platinum by Christmas, like I said. And I’m almost positive the title track with Rihanna will be a single. I heard it on the radio in DC last weekend. Sidenote: “Only fat n*gga in the sauna with Jews” is such a great line and I’m not even sure why.

5. Mary J. Blige – My Life II: The Journey Continues – 156,000 – Not a bad first week for The Queen. I’m pretty sure she’ll still be making music when my kids go to high school. And I haven’t had my first one yet.

27. Yelawolf – Radioactive – 41,000 - Go cop this. For real. Go cop it.

It’s been awhile since we heard from Jay Electronica, but we were warned that this was coming and it’s finally here. A brand new song from Mr. Electronica himself which features Mobb Deep and is produced by Just Blaze as well as Jay Electronica. We’re still waiting on “Act II: Patents Of Nobility“, so hopefully this isn’t the last we hear from Jay this year.
