One of Hip-Hop’s most notable moguls and pioneers, Lyor Cohen has decided to resign as Chief Executive of Recorded Music Division with Warner Music Group (WMG). If you are not too familiar, within his tenure as an executive Mr. Cohen has stood as a leader in the music industry as being responsible for the growth of Def Jam Records (serving as President), Roc-a-Fella Records, The Inc. (formely Murder, Inc.) and a host of others in the early 1980′s/1990′s. He was also instrumental in the development of some of the biggest artists in hip hop history such as the Beastie Boys, Nas, LL Cool J, Kurtis Blow, Jay-Z, and hip-hop’s godfathers Run DMC.
