The rumors were not rumors, they were actually factual; that actress/singer Miley Cyrus had been in the studio with a number of our favorite Hip Hip & R&B stars..cooking up some good music. Well Snoop Dogg hits today with the track “Ashtrays & Heartbreak” which features Miley for an unusual sounding “story-telling” record. Ever suffered a heartbreak, at the same time, filling up an ashtray with some “feel good” while you pen out records and deal with the heartache the special person caused you? Having known Snoop Dogg the rapper, actor, businessman and marijuana supporter for basically 20 of my 27 years on Earth, grasping his transformation into Snoop Lion hasn’t exactly been the easiest process. The man born Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. recently sat down with HipHopDX to shed light on two topics apparently very important to him – his faith and gun control.

Ever since the name change we have been waiting to see what we can expect from Snoop Lion. The first album for Snoop on the new moniker will be titled Reincarnated. The trailer below is for the single from the album titled “Lighters Up” and features Mavado and Popcaan. In the trailer there are release dates for the Reincarnated film that will be released on March 15^th in select theaters and the album and film will be available on April 2013.

This certainly came as a pleasant surprise to me last night. With the release of Snoop‘s Diplo-produced “La La La” last week, the West coast legend has officially reincarnated himself as Snoop Lion. The alter ego, formed thanks to his new Jamaican-influenced lifestyle, makes clear that Snoop is “tired of rap”, as he claims and plans to demonstrate on his upcoming “Reincarnated”album. You’ll get to see some more in-depth detail as to how the rapper-turned-singer’s cultural experiences have impacted his art form in an upcoming documentary also entitled “Reincarnated” premiering September 7th at the Toronto International Film Festival.
