Russell Simmons Tells America to “Get Off Rihanna’s Dick”

It seems like Rihanna has been the target of a few unfriendly words recently. Drake allegedly dissed her in “No Lie” and Chris Brown in “Theraflu.” It seemed as if Rihanna was alone to fend for herself until Russell Simmons came to her rescue. He wrote a blog entitled “Get off Rihanna’s Dick.” Yep, straight to the point. He pretty much says Rihanna can sleep with whatever celeb she wants to because you guys are sleeping with all the groupies you want. Mr. Simmons, your intentions are great, however, I’m not exactly sure if the wording particularly helps with Rihanna’s image. The blog is straight forward and does address rumors of Rihanna being promiscuous among big names in the industry. But you can read for yourself and tell us how you feel about the article.

There have been a lot of artists recently talking about “good girl gone bad,” Rihanna. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see why everyone has their panties up in a bunch.  It’s just that she is out there allegedly fuckin’ the rockstars of her dreams and you out there fuckin’ groupies.  You can’t be mad that she was seen walking out of Ashton Kutcher’s house late one night, cause you know if you were seen walking out of Adriana Lima’s house late one night, you would be in the studio the next day rapping about it.  I mean, you all got like 50 girls in your videos drooling over you and you dissing Rihanna?  I can’t blame a girl for being independent, having fun and living her life the way she wants to.  I am certainly not condoning indiscriminate sex, but don’t get mad cause the girl…

Remember, I was a manager once and I have seen these types of young men on the road.  I was with Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Whoodini and saw all of the girls after the show line up outside the dressing rooms.  I mean, Whoodini even wrote a song about, “I Am A Hoe” and went on to rap, “I rock three different girls after every show.” So, I know how this shit works.  You all got 10 times as many girls as Rihanna has men, and you know that.  I love you guys, and this certainly ain’t a diss, but I gotta keep it real.

Jay-Z’s Surprise Performance at YouTube Upfront

Similar to many cable networks, YouTube hosted its “Upfront” presentation on Wednesday in NYC at the Beacon Theater. Upfront is a unique way for networks to present to new programming and plans to advertisers in hopes that they will jump onboard and commit ”up front.” While all that business is going on, it’s never a bad idea to add a little pleasure. Well, as a gift to the masses gathered, YouTube blessed them with a little surprise. Jay-Z came out sporting new Brooklyn Nets gear and performed the anthem of NYC,  “Empire State of Mind.” Pharrell and Russell Simmons also made appearances at Upfront, and Flo Rida and Miri Ben-Ari (hip-hop violinist) also performed.

Kanye West is the latest musician to join the Occupy Wall Street movement, thanks to the help of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, who helped lead West through New York City’s Zucotti Park. Uncle Rush tweeted:

I just walked @kanyewest thru the #occupywallstreet. I love how sweet and tolerant he was to the crowd.

Kanye departed after visitors and protesters realized it was him and started to cause commotion.

Don’t expect either of these guys to appear at the other’s next birthday party. For those who are currently in the dark, Cosby and Simmons haven’t seen eye to eye in over two years now since Russell spoke out on Bill’s “State Of Emergency” project. Cliff Huxtable has never shied away from voicing his opinion on the Black community and everything he perceives wrong with it. This criticism has been, at times, directed to those of the Hip Hop community, which Simmons took offense to.

Well, the two crossed paths again at this past weekend at the Jackie Robinson Annual Awards dinner and apparently the iconic comedian wanted nothing to do with a truce.

I wanted to find him to apologize, to tell him I was sorry about my statements and to tell him that I loved him. Suddenly I turned and he was behind the curtain and I said “I love you” and he responded on some real hip-hop, “Get the f*ck out my face!

His next move was straight up old school pre b-boy hood shit. He walked by me and bumped me with his shoulder as I walked off stage after presenting my award to Sean [...] I then loved him even more.

Russell Simmons and Maino stood on the steps of New York’s City Hall to call for an end to violence during the second annual Peace Week.

If we can’t figure out who killed Biggie, or who killed Tupac, or who killed Jam Master Jay? Or any of the famous rappers who’ve been murdered. How many murders do you think we’re solving in these communities?” Simmons said on Wednesday morning.

“People are murdering each other without any recourse,” he said during the press conference. “We need to get in our communities and work from the inside out, but we cannot do it alone. We need support.”

The rally, part of Peace Week, was organized by Erica Ford, who is a long-time leader against violence in the city.

Today, we come together as anti-violence leaders, young people, elected officials, celebrities and family members of those impacted by youth violence to join forces to change the culture of violence,” Ford said. “Peace can be a lifestyle.”
