Saigon Disses Rick Ross & Big Sean

During Saigon’s recent interview with SOHH, the stand up rapper talked about the mindstate of Hip Hop fans today and singled out two of the hottest MC’s in the game, Rick Ross and Big Sean. His argument was concetrated on lyrical content and how it promotes the destruction of the community.

“Why ya’ll supportin’ a n*gga that promotes the destruction of our community? Why are you doin’ that? Why would you let this n*gga thrive and we don’t know where our next jobs are coming from? He’s rapping about selling kilos of cocaine and selling drugs. This is what he’s about, this whole lifestyle saying he’s so rich and he eats shrimp every night, and ya’ll support this sh*t? Ya’ll broke and poor and your family’s about to get kicked out. That’s our hit son! That’s his hit. Nobody knows the words to this song, all they know is “ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass” [background noises]. We don’t care about “ass, ass, ass, ass,” but this is the society we livin’ in right now. So it’s like alright.”

Update: Saigon took to Twitter to clarify his comments. He says he has no issues with Rick Ross and salutes him. No mention of Big Sean though. Check out what he had to say below.

These are two of the happiest guys on the planet right now. Bruno, you’ll see why in a moment. As for Spike, his Knicks are finally back on the basketball radar.

6. Bruno Mars – Doo Wops & Hooligans – 37,000 - Officially passing the 750K sold plateau, it is officially time to turn the “platinum countdown” for Bruno. And he’s going to push “The Lazy Song” as his next single. Sidenote: You know you’re a star when Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon shout you out on Pardon The Interruption.

7. Eminem – Recovery - 37,000 – No hate whatsoever because Em is certainly one of my favorite artists, but who are these people that still flock to the store every week to get this album? That’s some amazing consumer confidence right there.

8. Rihanna – Loud - 33,000 - A million copies sold and gone. And is it me or has Rihanna gotten thicker? Not that I’m complaining or anything.

9. Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday – 32,000 – I knew “Moment 4 Life” would be the look she needed to give this project the push towards a milli status. What’s next, however? A video for “Roman’s Revenge”?

New York City  recently celebrated “Social Media Week” – which are a group of conferences held twice a year worldwide. The Source sponsored a panel which discussed the phenomenon’s role in the Hip Hop industry titled “Tweets, Beef, Internet Heat – The Keys To Success In Today’s Hip Hop Industry.”

The panel included respected names such as Peter Rosenberg, Saigon, Dallas Penn, Reggie Osse (managing editor of The Source and host of the “Combat Jack Radio Show”) and, humbly, myself. Aside from speaking about how Facebook, Twitter and other avenues have helped increase publicity and respect around our respective brands, we also afforded tips to bloggers, DJ’s and artists on how they could do the same.

This all took place last Friday at NYC’s Entertainment, Gaming & Sports Hub at Red Bull.
