BNQT recently spent the whole day with Pro Skater, Business Owner, and Music Artist Terry Kennedy. They travel with him to the studio to check on his mixtape “Fly Society”, visit his favorite place to eat a meal and they also visit a skate shop nearby to view new products. Terry Kennedy’s mixtape “Fly Society” is set to be released later this year so keep your eyes open for that.

Earlier this week my homie Terry Kennedy invited me to be one of the models for his Fly Society look book for Spring/Fall 2011. The shoot took place in downtown Los Angeles at The Social Trust and it was a great time, to say the least. Expect to see some great pieces from Terry in the near future. It was great to see the new pieces T.K. and his people had been working on. But what was just as fulfilling was the other people who came to support the Fly Society movement aside from myself. Other models included:

  • Tristan Wilds (Actor; The Wire and Beverly Hills 90210 )
  • The Cataracs (David Benjamin, Niles Hollowell-Dhar and DEV)
  • 12th Planet (Producer/DJ)
  • The Professor (And 1 Basketball player)
  • Levi Maestro (Maestro Knows)
  • Jimmy Gorecki (Skateboarder)
  • Brayden Syzfranski (Skateboarder)
  • Ben Baller (World renowned jeweler, IF & Co.)

Also be sure to checkout Ben’s account of the entire experience over at his site. Also Thanks to Terry’s Brand Manager Nino & his 3rd generation ipod for putting together a great shoot! #BTBG

Here is the full interview of my recent sit down with entrepreneur extraordinaire Terry Kennedy. Last week, TK cleared the air and gave his stance on his falling out with Curren$y and breakup with Angela Simmons. He also shed light on:

- His reaction on how his show Being Terry Kennedy is being received

- A scene which didn’t make the show he wishes did

- The biggest change of companies embracing skater culture over the years

- The harder endeavor: fashion or music

- The chances he gets his own video game a la Shaun White and Tony Hawk

- If his nickname Bam Magera gave him still sticks (“Compton Ass Terry“)

Be sure to catch Terry Kennedy airing Tuesdays on BET at 10 p.m. Also make sure you follow TK on Twitter and Facebook.

I had the chance to kick it with Terry Kennedy while he was out here on the East Coast.  During a promotional run for his album Pilot Talk in July, Curren$y spoke with XXL on a wide variety of issues including his falling out with Kennedy. According to Spitta, the fallout happened due to TK copyrighting the name Fly Society without his knowing. Due to Curren$y’s influence on the Internet being one of the highest of of any rapper, many took his side in he and Kennedy’s disagreement.

That same Internet backlash resulted after his public break up with Angela Simmons. TK spoke with me on how that negative portrayal in both situations affected him and and was able to explain his side of the events.  The conversation concluded with his show and how important it has been to him. With all the stories and rumors floating around, Being Terry Kennedy (which airs Tuesdays at 10) allows him to do just that – showcase the “real” him.

Yesterday, Curren$y stopped by the XXL offices in promotion for his new album Pilot Talk. While there, the conversation shifted towards his feelings on skateboarder-turnt-rapper-turnt-reality TV star Terry Kennedy and the name he (Curren$y) essentially created, Fly Society.

Spitta introduced TK to the Fly Society world believing he would be a valuable in both music and clothing. For personal reasons, the pairing did not produce the results they originally intended and would soon cut ties with one another. Unknown to Curren$y at the time, however, Kennedy had the Fly Society logo and name copyrighted.

TK decides to move forward with the company even securing a clothing deal last week. The skaterboarder, who has collaborated with Supra & KR3W in the past, looks to unveil Fly Society’s own line of t-shirts moving into sweaters, jeans, etc. in the near future. He is also preparing for the airing of his B.E.T. reality series “The Kennedys” this fall.

Regarding the rift, Spitta had this to say.
