Many of us have seen the growth in The Roots drummer, Questlove over the years. From the beginning of the Philly-born clan, to on stage with the likes of Jay-Z, Jill Scott, and others, to now being the resident musical director on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, its a wonder how he has had such a valuable impact on Hip-Hop and music. Well now we will get a taste of his journey from his perspective, as Quest is preparing to release a memoir of his experiences and a different view on the study of pop culture called Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove. For more info, hit the jump.
In preparation for the release of his highly anticipated debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, Compton’s son Kendrick Lamar performed his hit single “Swimming Pools (Drank)” with a little help from The Roots. Not too shabby for K.Dot’s first time performing on live network television! Look out for good kid, m.A.A.d city set to hit stores October 22nd. Check out the performance after the jump.
Video has surfaced of what is being claimed to be the Legendary Roots Crew’s first live performance all the way back in 1993 in Philly. Black Thought and Malik B are handling the vocals, and of course ?uestlove is on the drums. But we’ve got Scott Storch on the keys and Leonard Hubbard on the bass, two guys long gone from the group. Pretty wild.

7. Drake – Take Care – 77,000 - Here’s news that was actually news earlier this week. Drake’s platinum. Completely off topic though, I’d like to see him drop a “9 A.M. In Dallas” type track to address all the hoopla that’s going on now.
9. Rihanna – Talk That Talk – 54,000 - Like I’ve said before, she’ll just keep her sales consistent. She should be gold at some point in January.
23. Mary J. Blige – My Life II: The Journey Continues – 39,000 - That “Mr. Wrong” track is picking up steam. At the right time, too. Trust me, they’ll be some group of single females singing that song as the ball drops in a few weeks.
26. Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa – Mac & Devin Go To High School – 38,000 - I didn’t expect this to break the charts mainly because the promotion for this wasn’t exactly intense. That being said, this album isn’t bad. Check it out since you’re about to have a long weekend coming up.

3. Adele – 21 – 187,379 - You know what time it is. Nothing to see here other than the fact she officially surpassed the 5x platinum mark this week. And in roughly another five or six, she’ll be saying hello to 6x. Just in time for the Grammys.
4. Justin Bieber – Under The Mistletoe – 158,182 - The crazy thing is that this appears to be just a set up type album for his next studio project set to drop next year. And it’ll be platinum before the ball drops in NYC in about two and a half weeks.
5. Amy Winehouse – The Lioness: Hidden Treasures – 113,856 - That number isn’t anything to be ashamed about in the least bit, but I can’t help but shake the feeling it’d be higher.
7. Drake – Take Care – 73,154 - This’ll be platinum just in time for Christmas.
17. The Roots – Undun – 48,189 - To be quite honest, I don’t ever see a point, in the near future at least, that involves rap music without this iconic group. They’ve got their own following and pending this gets to 100K (which it will), that’s a win. Their one of those groups that don’t need to sell a crazy amount of records to remain relevant. At least that’s how I view their career from this armchair A&R’s eyes.
It is week number two and The Roots are back with the second video from their upcoming Undun album which hits stores December 6th. Next video will be released on November 15th.
Off of their upcoming Undun album, The Roots lets loose the official visulas of the Big K.R.I.T featured single. This is one of four videos that will be shot from different songs off their upcoming album. Undun in stores and online, December 6th.
