[New Video] Yelawolf & Travis Barker “Funky Shi*

Creativity is NOT dead in artistry. Country rappers Yelawolf & famous drummer Travis Barker are back to prove this theory correct. The pair teams up and finally releases the “Funky Shit” visual through MTV2 videos. The video depicts real situations (well not so real, because we did see some aliens) that are displayed in the form of sketch art. Everything looks as if it is drawn on a piece of lined paper with a pencil and is extremely dope to the eyes. Read more and check the video after the jump!

Album Stream: Travis Barker & Yelawolf “Pyscho White” EP

To give you all a bit of diversity…  a mixture of three different, yet dominant genres highly regarded in the world of music (rap, rock & bluegrass) are all meshed together like a moshpit on this collective EP dropped to today by rock star Travis Barker, and fluent flowing rapper Yelawolf. Pyscho White highlights extreme drum solo’s from the tatted up Travis Barker who we all know and love, as well as rapid fire bars that powerfully spit as if from the barrel of an automatic shotgun…given to us by Yelawolf. It’s my guy Catfish Billy. Last night, he invaded the city Michael Jordan once (and still) commands and the one Derrick Rose currently calls his kingdom. That’s Chicago, for the non-basketball inclined. Shady’s new signee rocked Reggie’s Rock Club and as a person who has seen Yela’s live show, I’m fully positive everyone in attendance got their money’s worth.

At the end of his set, however, he gave the fans a surprise when he brought out Travis Barker to perform “Pop The Trunk.”

3. Lupe Fiasco – Lasers - 47,000 - The album that almost never happened appears to be doing quite well in the sales department. Too bad the reviews haven’t matched the numbers however. That being said, I wouldn’t mind seeing them actually push “Words I Never Said” with Skylar Grey.

4. Travis Barker – Give The Drummer Some – 28,000 - Regardless of what this album eventually goes on to sale (it feels like it could have been promoted better; that’s not Barker’s fault though), Travis will still be one of the cooler musicians on the planet. That record he has with the Clipse and Kobe is mean though.

10. Marsha Ambrosius – Late Nights & Early Mornings – 28,000 - This brings the lump sum to approximately 165,000. I’d love to see Marsha top out at 300,000 (which are great sales these days). LNEM is definitely a must have for those one-on-one evenings.

14. Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday – 25,000 – She just keeps selling. 1.2M and climbing.

Travis Baker sat down with Nick Huff Barili yesterday to talk about his new solo album “Give The Drummer Some” coming out March 15th. Travis explains the meaning behind the title and how DJ AM would include James Brown samples on their mixtapes and live performances together. AM was an influence to Travis helping push his musical boundaries even further and introducing him to new hip hop and dubstep.

Travis recalls his early Hip Hop memories of listening to Whodini, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, RunDMC and how later when he was skating he would listen to Tha Alkaholiks, Pharcyde, Wu-Tang, Hiero (Same stuff we grew up on!). One of the standout tracks on the new album is “Let’s Go” which features Busta Rhymes, Twista and Yelawolf. Travis explains how the track came about and how it almost seems like a rap contest cause each MC sounds like they are trying to out do the other.

And that’s just the beginning, in the rest of this in depth interview Travis talks about RZA, Pharrell, Lupe, Chuck from Cool Kids, Tom Morello , being part of a Jazz Bands, his friendships with Game and Lil Wayne and more!.

It’s always good to see the Thornton brothers together making music even though their pursuing solo interests at the moment. The above footage of Malice, Pusha and Travis Barker on the set of their “Come N Get It” video. The song is slated to appear on Trav’s March 15 Give The Drummer Some.

Since we’re on the subject, head over here to cop Mal’s new book Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind And Naked.
