Tag Archives: Trunk Muzik 0-60

It’s looking I’ve got quite a few albums to purchase next week. One them will definitely be Alabama’s own Yelawolf with his debut project Trunk Muzik: 0-60. It’s been about a year since I was first put on to Yela’s music (which is still late IMO), but since then it’s been like a snowball rolling downhill as far as my appreciation for his grind and output is concerned.

Through my homie DJ Burn One, I actually got a chance to meet and kick it with Yela during the DC stop of he and Wiz’s tour earlier this year. Much respect to everyone that tour, too, by the way. They were real down to earth people who just enjoyed talking Hip-Hop, both what you see on TV and the internet and stuff you don’t.

Sirius XM’s Hip Hop Nation recently went “Inside The Studio” with Catfish Billy opening up in regards to a list of topics surrounding his name at the moment. Some of it is stuff we’ve heard before in the past, but that’s the penalty of promotion at times. Through it all though, buddy has remained humble and appreciative. And I respect that. Yela touches on:

-Releasing Trunk Muzik
-Getting cosigns from Raekwon, Bun B & Slim Thug
-Filming the “Pop The Trunk” video
-Performing at SXSW
-Getting signed to Interscope
-Living in the “blog era”
-Releasing his major label debut Trunk Muzik: 0-60 and more!

Kudos to eskay for this.

Yela was none too pleased this slipped into the wrong hands. And truthfully, I can’t blame him. In return, however, he vowed to let go of the final version of the video soon, but since it’s already out, you may as well check the video out now. This is what I presume to be the lead single off Yelawolf’s Interscope debut Trunk Muzik 0-60, the visual for his “Wanna Party” featuring Gucci Mane is here.

Truthfully, this has been getting spins since I first heard it in early August and I hope on everything this gets the push it deserves. Catfish Billy’s flow is as unique as they come and La Flare delivers a quality guest verse. All the while, you can get as inebriated as you can while rapping along the song’s hook. You can’t ask for much more out of a lead single other than positive results. Cameos from DJ Burn One, Big Boi and others are all throughout the video as there is plenty of smoking, drinking and dancing to go around this house party.

Earlier this year, we caught up with Drama Beats and one of things he shed light upon was his self produced mixtape, Young & Reckless Vol. 1. It didn’t drop earlier this year how he originally planned, but better late than never works here. You may also remember Drama being in the studio with Alabama native and recent Interscope signee Yelawolf.

Soon we’ll hear and see the final product from their sessions. The song, “Daddy’s Lambo,” is the first single off Dram’s afformentioned tape and Yela’s debut LP Trunk Muzik 0-60. The video was directed by Jason Bergh of UX Entertainment and will feature cameos from JJ Jones, Shawn Christopher, Kevin Delaney (Young & Reckless Brand Director) and Drama himself. Of course, if you’re going to be anywhere near Drama or Rob, experiencing the adult playground that is “Fantasy Factory” is a must. The video was shot there as well as Club “My House” and a mansion in Beverley Hills.

On the topic of Yela, hit the jump for more information regarding his performance at Pac Sun’s Summer Solstice Beach Ballyhoo.
