DeAndre Way sat down with Lee Hawkins of Wall Street Journal to document his rise to fame as apart of their “WSJ Weekend Conversations.” Soulja details how important embracing social media was for him and how he continues to make sure it plays an integral part in his career.

The two also spoke about his future career moves, who he turns to for advice and working with G.O.O.D. Music’s Kanye West and KiD CuDi. At the conclusion of the interview, Soulja performed his new single “Speakers Going Hammer.”

When Jay-Z talks, hip-hop listens. That commanding presence comes not only from him being one of the most respected MC’s in the game, but also because of the business pursuits that have made him a leader in the community. Hopefully this latest piece of wisdom will not fall on deaf ears.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jay was asked what’s changed in hip-hop, and why the lyrical content has been somewhat watered down. Jay pinpointed a lack of emotion, and a lack of time spent penning lyrics.
