Every song has a story into its creation. When those details emerge, however, only then does a greater appreciation arise for the record. Hov’s new e-home, Life & Times, caught up with Kansas‘ own XV into making of his “When We’re Done.” In sort of a Phil Jackson-type role, Just Blaze oversees the rapper and his producer Seven during the three nights at the Harlem studio, Stadium Red.

Turns out Smallville worked so well for XV that he decided to hop on another instrumental handcrafted by J. Cole. This time it’s smooth and soulful “Watch Me Go,” which did not appear on his recently released mixtape, Zero Heroes. Why? It’s not for us to know. All that matters is it’s here now for your listening (and downloading) pleasure.

We travel from Wichita (XV), Atlanta (CyHi) to Harlem (Vado) all in the span of less than five minutes with this track. And at some point, all three have been tapped as one of the “younger artists” to keep eyes on, so do yourself a favor and watch all three in this visual. XV takes it straight to the nightclub with this new track boasting Erin Christine on the hook. Admittedly, I’m a little late coming around to XV, but it’s better late than never and I’ll support new music regardless if I’ve been on the bandwagon from 21 Jump Street or if I’m new to the game.

Look for his new project, The Kid With The Green Backpack, to drop soon.
