Any time an artist attempts to drop two albums in one year, comparisons to a 1998 DMX (and a 2003 50 Cent) are only sure to follow. That’s exactly what happened when this MTV clip of Mack Maine surfaced earlier today. Mack, who is one of the biggest players in the YMCMB movement, said that he recently spoke to Drake and that the wheels are in motion for another album very soon. As in before next summer, soon. Sooner or later, Drake will let go of the R&B tape he’s been speaking about for weeks, but according to Mack, the intro for the new album is already done.

Really, I don’t feel one way or the other about it. They know what’s going on in those offices more than I do. You want to give the fans what they want, but you also don’t want to oversaturate yourself to a point where people don’t want to hear from you. It’s a thin line but one that has to be balanced perfectly in order to achieve the success they have (Cash Money) throughout the years. At this point, however, Young Money could be looking at a line up of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne again and Drake all before next spring hits.

As the President of Young Money, Mack Maine has the responsibility of leading one of  the hottest labels in the game. But the business side of his career hasn’t taken anything away from his skill as an artist… and he wants to make sure you remember that. Check out this freestyle over  Vado, Cam’ron & Kid Cudi’s “Ya Killin Me” beat.

Young Money continues to keep the ship afloat while the captain is away. Nearly seven months after hitting stores, the label’s compilation project, We Are Young Money, has officially reached gold status by pushing 504,217 copies. The LP was fueled by the chart topping singles “Every Girl” and “Bedrock” and the also successful “Roger That.”

One of the album’s more acclaimed tracks, the video for Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane’s collaboration, “Steady Mobbin,’” was also recently released. The album peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Because this is KarenCivil.com and I like to exercise a bit of self control, I’ll keep the real comments to myself. YM’s Barbie and Kanye’s arm candy are seen here in some still shots from Nicki’s lead single, “Massive Attack,” produced by Sean Garrett. The video is going to be released in about  two weeks.

If I can be nostalgic for a moment, it’s crazy to see how far Nicki has come over the years. Seems like yesterday when I used to see her on the hood DVD’s (Smack, Cocaine City, etc.) with Gravy spitting. Say what you will about her, but I’ll never knock another person for their come up. Nicki has also changed management, she is now managed by Lady Gaga’s Manager Troy Carter & P. Diddy.

Feel free to hit the jump to see the rest of the pictures.

Crazy thing is, the last time I did this, Sade was number one on the charts. Good to see she hasn’t fallen too far.

Footage from Grammy weekend is still matriculating to the internet. My ticket was obviously lost in the mail, so I’m not tripping. Anywho, the above clip is Young Money at the Roots Jam Session. If you remember, KC gave her account of what the evening was like when she attended. Black Tree Media caught up with Mack Maine, Lil’ Twist and Shanell where they expose what it’s like working with Lil’ Wayne, what the secret is behind new talent and what to expect from Young Money as a whole for the rest of the year.

“They wanna lock me up and throw away the key…/ I wanna pop ‘em up and throw away the heat…

When thinking about the unfortunate connection that is hip hop and prison, Tupac likely ranks as the poster child (while some may argue Shyne). No artist was more vocal about the concept of prison or while actually behind bars than the musical icon. Fast forward to the current day and one of the biggest entertainment names in the solar system faces the same ‘music’ Shakur did some 15 years ago.
